I've Found an Application For the Imprecatory Psalms.

Why don't we care about this? I mean as a nation, or as an international community? Is it because these are women and the leaders of the industrialized world are men? Is it because they are black and the North American and European nations with the resources to address this situation are mostly not black? Is it because they are poor? Is it because they have no oil?
I don't think we're really interested in stopping terrorism.

Here is the US code definition of terrorism:

Sec. 2331. Definitions

As used in this chapter--
(1) the term ``international terrorism'' means activities that--
(A) involve violent acts or acts dangerous to human life
that are a violation of the criminal laws of the United States
or of any State, or that would be a criminal violation if
committed within the jurisdiction of the United States or of any
State;
(B) appear to be intended--
(i) to intimidate or coerce a civilian population;
(ii) to influence the policy of a government by
intimidation or coercion; or
(iii) to affect the conduct of a government by mass
destruction, assassination, or kidnapping; and

(C) occur primarily outside the territorial jurisdiction of
the United States, or transcend national boundaries in terms of
the means by which they are accomplished, the persons they
appear intended to intimidate or coerce, or the locale in which
their perpetrators operate or seek asylum;

That is unbearable! I had to stop reading after the first reference to a knife.

During my time of prayer today, I will pray them.

Greg,
I have seen references to this type of thing in the past. It makes me indignant. If the local church is the hope of the world, how can our local church affect this situation??

How does a just and gracious God look on these types of things?

World Relief is a Christian Organization that partners with local churches around the world to bring relief in situations just like these. In otherwords, they partner with the local church in the Congo to bring relief to the Congo. There may be various ways in which we can support World Relief and local Congolese churches. I've put a call in to them and to MTW. MTW (the PCA's international mission organization ) does not currently have any representatives in the Congo, but World Relief does.

In addition, New City Fellowship in St Louis, has a few families from the Congo and they have connections with churches there. I'll call New City as well to see how we can partner with them in this situation.

For the most part it will probably be prayer support and raising awareness and advocating for Congolese victims. Grace Central is a local church, but we are the local church in Columbus, Ohio and so our potential to effect change in Africa will be limited. But we can assist organizations like World Relief which empower the local church in Congo to be the hope of the powerless there.

And don't forget, there is no weapon more fit to bring justice and change than prayer. And prayer is the only weapon there is no defense against,
