Often a church will recommend their pastor take a time away specifically for the purpose of study, in order to make him a more informed and prepared servant of the people. I have been given two weeks study leave a year. Being a pastor is sometimes like being a chef who always feeds people but seldom gets to eat. Study leave will help me fill up on some good stuff and maybe learn me a new recipe or two to bring back to the kitchen.
I'm pretty sure you get one as well. It's called June, July and August- wink wink.
Augustine's Confessions - what a wonderful book. The original autobiography. Find this and the rest of the titles listed at your local Christian Bookstore. Afterwords, stop by your local 7-11 for a really good cup of coffee.
